1 Brigade Troops Rescue Sixteen Victims, Thwarted Terrorists Ambush

Troops of the 1 Brigade under operation Fansan Yamma have thwarted multiple terrorist operations, successfully rescuing sixteen kidnapped victims and forcing insurgents into retreat during a series of daring encounters across Zamfara State.

This development was confirmed to our reporter by the troops of 1 Brigade, who detailed how the operatives intercepted a convoy of fourteen terrorists moving on seven motorcycles along a crossing path at Kwanar Jolof, Shinkafi local government area on August 28, 2026.

According to the source, the troops had occupied an ambush position to intercept the bandits after sighting them via CCTV, but the operation was compromised when terrorist informants tipped off the approaching convoy, causing the insurgents to quickly retreat toward the riverline.

ary sources stated that the troops engaged the fleeing scout with a high volume of fire, subsequently dominating the area until normal traffic resumed and recovering equipment including one motorcycle, an RPG bomb without a fuse, a sleeping mat, and a blanket.

In a separate swift response earlier that morning at about 03:55 am, troops of the brigade under the command of the Acting Commander 1 Brigade, Colonel Joseph Umaru, acted on a distress call from Shiyan Abiyola Street in Kauran Namoda Local Government Area, where Covert Team 2 averted an attack and rescued four abducted residents.

The military authorities added that troops of Combat Team 7 Headquarters in Tsafe later responded to an emergency around Kwanoni Village at about 1405 hours on the same day, engaging terrorists with superior firepower and successfully rescuing twelve passengers who had been seized from a Sharon car and a J5 pickup truck.
