Police Clear Landmine Threat on Kaura Namoda-Moriki Road in Zamfara

The Zamfara State Police Command has successfully cleared an Improvised Explosive Device planted by armed bandits along the Kaura Namoda–Moriki Road, ensuring the safety of commuters and restoring normalcy to the route. The operation followed a swift response from the command’s elite tactical units to a suspected landmine explosion that occurred yesterday.

In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Yazid Abubakar, the command confirmed that the incident took place on 17th August 2026, when a vehicle detonated a device planted by criminals. DSP Yazid explained that despite the explosion, no casualties or injuries were recorded during the incident.

The PPRO noted that a combined team of the Violence Crime Response Unit and Explosive Ordnance Disposal experts were immediately deployed to the area to conduct a thorough sweep and render the road safe for public use. He added that the team took proactive measures to repair damaged sections of the road to facilitate the resumption of vehicular movement.
