Zamfara Boosts Internal Revenue to N32.3b as Audit Reveals Spending Deficits
Zamfara State has recorded a massive 78.6% surge in Internally Generated Revenue, jumping from 25.4 billion Naira in 2024 to 32.3 billion Naira in 2025, alongside notable improvements in budget discipline across all government ministries, departments, and agencies.

This fiscal growth was highlighted by the State Auditor-General, Abubakar Danmaliki, during the official presentation of the 2025 Audited Financial Statements and the Annual Audit Activity Report, presented in compliance with international public sector standards and constitutional mandates.
Despite these significant economic gains under the state’s ongoing rescue agenda, the audit revealed persistent systemic weaknesses in public expenditure management across 98 audited agencies.
Major compliance infractions identified include incomplete asset registers, unretired financial advances and imprests, and poor inventory management practices.
The Auditor-General emphasized that while several audit queries issued to non-compliant agencies have been resolved, several infractions regarding procurement laws and financial regulations remain outstanding, prompting calls for strict enforcement of legal sanctions against violating officials.
